I remember playing a lot of American Shooter Games growing up. Throughout the years, I’ve developed an immense love for these types of games, especially being able to play through a third person perspective. I noticed, however, that there were very few (if they even existed to begin with) Indian Shooter games. Being someone who believes in the diversity of gaming and the cultural effect video games can have on people, this made me fret a little bit. But that’s when I discovered Saaho- The Game! It swooped into my life like a dramatic Indian Superhero, and showed me the beautiful development in the Indian gaming world!
Saaho- The Game is based on a film, and it sticks to the story-line, giving you an action-packed adventure in survival game style. It is, according to me, a great representation of the future of story-mode shooter games in India.
In Saaho, you get to play as a badass character named Prabhas, a Saaho agent with a goal— to protect the city of Waaji from the gangsters that are after it’s greatest treasure, the well-known and sought after “Black Box”. The gangsters in this game are relentless, unafraid to destroy whatever and whoever may cross their path. It takes a daring character like Prabhas to be able to stand up to them, or rather, FLY up to them (on a kickass jetpack, no less!) and stick up his guns and fight for his goal. Playing as Prabhas, you have an arsenal of weapons to choose from. As imaginable, it would be exhausting to play as such a dynamic character, and so, it eats up energy in your energy bar. But, fear not! Since Prabhas is such a superhero, there’s an easy way to work around this— you can just skip the regeneration wait, and play without stopping for a break! Now that’s what I know I like to see in shooter games! You don’t have to wait to blast your enemies into their fate.
Saaho is super fun to play, and you can play with friends as well! The more the merrier. Team up to protect the city of Waaji. The more distance you cover, and more enemies you shoot earns you gold that you can spend to upgrade your weapons and even buy new and better weapons. Each weapon has its own characteristics based on range, capacity and damage, so it takes skill to be able to choose your weapons wisely! You can buy power-ups with the gold that you earn as well, and if that’s not enough, it sure is a great add-on that you can use the game’s gold in REAL LIFE as well — spend this gold to buy merchandise ranging in from caps and t-shirts, to even movie tickets to see the live action film, Saaho!
This survival game teaches you great tactics and the controls are super easy to work with. It’s every Indian gamer’s dream, all put together in one action-packed third person perspective survival shooter game. All you have to do is tilt your phone to control Prabhas’s direction of movement. You can stock up on ammo by flying over crates filled with it. Shooting in Saaho is very satisfying, as all you need to do is aim your crosshair at an enemy, and simply tap on the screen to blast them away. Be careful, though, because you need to make sure you shoot him before he can shoot you! A timer pops up when Prabhas is within shooting range of an enemy, and it goes from red to green depicting the enemy’s next move; do you think you’re quick enough on your feet to attack before? It’s kill or be killed in this game, and so, it really depicts reality well too; especially since you can vicariously meet your demise if you crash into objects or buildings, so work on your flying skills and hone the cool inner shooter that lies within you!
This game is super addictive as it’s a never-ending run and gun style game and you can play for hours on end, just improving your skills and increasing your killing spree.
Saaho is not only India’s most wanted game, but I see it as every gamer’s most-wanted game as well.
So, load up on weapons, stock up on ammo and fill your jetpack with fuel. Do you think you have what it takes to play as Prabhas? I know I do. Are you up for a thrilling and entertaining challenge? Download this free and fun-to-play game to find out. Hands down, one of the best Indian-made fighter games I’ve ever played.
